WHAT DO COCOA, COOKIES, ORIGAMI AND ONLINE ORDERING HAVE IN COMMON?
There were smiles and laughter as our volunteers and staff gathered together for a few hours of fun, learning, and sweet treats!
The goal of the event was to introduce our pilot online ordering system which will provide our clients with more choice and the opportunity to customize their grocery orders. Currently, the Pantry is operating with a drive-thru model which does not allow for much customization of orders. Many have been hoping for the day when they will be able to return to shopping inside the Pantry and selecting their own items. This is a first step toward that end. Our volunteers were enthusiastic about the pilot program and had some great ideas which will be incorporated into the system.
In addition, they had the opportunity to learn about origami and try their hand at creating masterpieces of their own. This activity was led by one of our volunteers – Renee Cook – who runs her own business The Happy Crane.
We topped off the day with delicious hot cocoa and yummy cookies provided by Harvard Sweet Boutique, Inc. of Hudson, MA.
A fun and educational day!
