Food Drive Ideas — Make it Fun!

  • Three Meals a Day – collect for a specific meal
    • Breakfast – cereal granola, granola bars, pop tarts
    • Lunch – PB&J, canned fruit, canned pasta, tuna and mayo
    • Dinner – helpers, stew, mac & cheese, pasta w/sauce
  • Can the Principal/Boss – fill the Principal’s/Boss’ Office with cans of food
  • Event Admission – reduce the price of admission for each can/box donated
  • Bake Sale – a can of food buys a brownie
  • Car Wash – a bag of food buys a car wash
  • Raffle – the cost of a raffle ticket is a can of food
  • Pasta Patrol – collect mac & cheese, canned pasta, dry pasta and sauce
  • Build a Food Sculpture – Mountain of Mac & Cheese, Tower of Tuna, Pile of Pasta, etc.

    • Souper Bowl – collect soup before the Football Super Bowl (Jan)
    • Give from the Heart – heart healthy foods (Feb)
    • March Madness – organize a basketball shoot out for hunger, entry fee is food
    • Food Hunt for Hunger (spring/Easter)
    • Baseball Opening Day – hit a homerun for hunger (April/Spring)
    • Make Mom Proud – Stop Hunger (May)
    • Hunger Doesn’t Take a Vacation (June-breakfast & lunch items)
    • Cookout Time – condiments-mayo, ketchup, relish (June)
    • Halloween – Dare to Care, Treat your Neighbor Right
    • Winter Warm-up – stew, soup, cocoa (November)
    • Giving Thanks Drive (November/December)
    • Holiday Baking Drive (December)
    • Rise and Shine – breakfast foods
    • A Taste of Italy – pasta, sauce, etc.
  • Weeklong Themes
    • Cultural Collection – collect a different culture’s food each day
    • Food per day – Macaroni Monday, Tuna Tuesday, etc.
    • ColorTheme – Monday – wear red/bring in pasta sauce, Ritz (red package), etc.
  • Snack Attack – collect healthy snacks like raisins, trail mix or granola bars
  • Every Penny Counts – the proceeds will help us purchase food
  • Meat the Need – canned meats, tunafish, stew
  • Stuff the Bus – fill a bus with cans
  • Walk/Run for Hunger – sponsor a runner with cans of food per mile
  • Wrap Them in Warmth – collect warm coats, snowpants, hats, gloves, scarves
  • The Challenge – create a challenge between classrooms/departments to see who can collect the most items
